Loch Raven Presbyterian Church (LPRC) is seeking a full-time Assistant Pastor for youth and Young Families. The qualified applicant will possess a seminary degree and will also have experience in, or previous involvement with, youth or children's ministry.
General Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and implements a wide range of youth activities. Executes a program of outreach calculated to develop and grow the youth ministry of LPRC. Recruits and trains youth leadership and adult volunteers. Maintains regular and published office hours for availability to youth. Works with church staff in the overall implementation of the vision and mission of Loch Raven Presbyterian Church.
Position Qualifications/Requirements:
Faithful believer in Jesus Christ with an active prayer and devotional life.
Consistently demonstrates Christian character and commitment in daily life.
Must be able to articulate the Christian faith and the gospel message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
Accepts the Scriptures as presented in the Old and New Testaments as God’s holy, inspired and inerrant Word.
Accepts the mission statement, doctrine, and government of LRPC and the Presbyterian Church in America.
Ability to organize ministry activities and assume responsibilities with minimal supervision and follow-up.
Ability to develop a youth ministry that grows out of solid relationships built with the youth of our church.
Ability to teach and lead in small and large group situations. Musical ability a plus.
Have a burden for youth ministry and a desire to develop long-term relationships with the youth of LRPC.
Specific Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes and implements a youth ministry for youth groups including elementary, middle, senior high and college age students at LRPC. This may include fellowship meetings, Bible studies, vacation Bible school, camps, retreats, special trips, service mission projects, youth worship services, etc.
Leads young families' Sunday School class, Bible study and other activities.
Develops youth leadership to assist in ongoing and special church-wide projects and activities.
Works directly with the Christian Education Committee and Senior Pastor to coordinate a ministry that is inclusive of all the youth at LRPC.
Maintains an ongoing relationship with other area Youth Directors/Pastors for cooperation and coordination of youth ministries.
Maintains contact with youth on a regular basis, visiting them with their families, attending athletic or recreational activities on school/college campuses and any other appropriate places.
Provides Christian faith-based counseling to the youth and young families.
Communicates the interests of the youth to the church body through the use of bulletins, newsletters, periodic mailings and announcements.
Regular office hours are for the purpose of contact and availability, correspondence, study and preparation.
Submits a yearly youth budget proposal, manages the youth budget and manages a personal expense account.
Must be committed to the safety and well being of the youth at all youth activities.
Performs other duties as required.
Other Responsibilities:
Preach minimum of two to three times a quarter. Assist in weekly worship service.
Attend Session and Christian Education Committee meetings.
Attend Wednesday evening prayer meeting in conjunction with Senior Pastor.
Assist Senior Pastor with community outreach (e.g., community Bible study, Youth for Christ meetings).
Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor and Session.
